Almerima holds a MSc and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands. During her PhD, from 2004 to 2008, she performed research in the field of complex networks (at the Network Architecture and Services - NAS research group), focusing on the quantitative characterization and its relevance for the robustness analysis of large-scale real-world structures. After obtaining her PhD in 2008 Almerima joined the TNO, the Netherlands institute for applied research. As a research scientist at the department of Performance of Networks and Systems she worked on the topic of quantitative analysis and modeling of network performance and optimization. Since January 2012 she is at the Communication and Distributed Systems – CDS research group of the Institute of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (IAM), University of Bern (UniBE), Switzerland. Besides her main task of leading research in the two projects, one in wireless mesh networking and other in mobile cloud computing, her areas of interest include complex networks modeling and characterization, network topology analysis, (online) social networks and P2P systems.
